Upon your arrival at the Socotra airport (just after midday on a direct flight from Abu Dhabi, UAE) you will be welcomed by our Socotra Daher team and will head to your hotel in Hadiboh.

After settling in your rooms and enjoying your first meal on the island, you will head out with 4x4 cars to the Ayhaft Canyon National Park, which is considered a natural nursery due to its abundance of endemic trees, plants and birds. There you will get a first taste of the island's biodiversity, while also having the opportunity to swim in the natural freshwater pools of the park surrounded by tamarind trees, cucumber trees and a wide variety of birds such as the Socotra Sparrow, Socotra Sunbird and both the Socotra and Somali starlings.

Later in the afternoon you will visit Delisha Beach with its pristine white sand expanse full of crabs. There you can swim in the sea or the freshwater lagoon, climb a huge sand dune overseeing the beach and try to surf down it. Time and weather permitting, you may end the day watching one of the famous Delisha sunsets.

After breakfast, you will head to Homhil, a protected area. On the way you will stop at Qaria Lagoon, the largest lagoon on the island, where you will have the opportunity to observe flamingos, herons and greenshanks.

After exploring Qaria, you will hike up to the Homhil Protected Area, passing through captivating landscapes of deep ravines and vast plains. The prehistoric feel of this part of the island and its landscape full of bottle trees, Dragon blood and frankincense trees, will take your breath away.

In the afternoon you will drive to Ras Irsael and Arher Beach, where salt and fresh water meet. There you can swim, enjoy the 3km-long sandy beach, and, if you wish climb the big sand dune for an unparalleled view of the beach.

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Terbak village at the base of Hoq Cave, the largest cave on the island. Before the sun gets too hot, you will hike up to the cave entrance (approx. 1 hour). The cave is over 3kms long, full of magnificent stalactites, stalagmites and crystalline formations, and ends with a water pool. Ancient writings on the cave walls and what appears to be a picture of an old trading ship have been preserved over the ages by a calcite glaze. Evidence suggests that the cave was once used for ritual purposes by the presence of mysterious 'altars'.

Later in the day, you will visit Dihamri, a marine-protected area on the north coast. Here, you can swim or snorkel, exploring the untouched coral reefs and their inhabitants.

Early in the morning, you will drive to Dixum Plateau to see the gorge, which is definitely the island's most spectacular limestone landscape feature. The gorge drops 700m vertically to the valley floor. You will walk along the gorge's edge to see attractive stands of Dragon blood trees and the extensive limestone pavement. Sections of the plateau have partially slipped into the gorge, leaving 'lost worlds' accessible only to buzzards and vultures. The plateau is home to nomadic Bedouin herdsmen who move from one site to another with their herds.

You will stop at Shibhan Plateau, home to the island's largest forest of Dragon blood trees. Later, you will drive to Wadi Darhour, where you can explore a selection of trails or dip in the natural pool before reaching the beautiful Zahaq Beach and settling in for the night.

After breakfast you will drive to the west of the island to the quaint fishermen's town of Qalansiya, which is full of traditional Socotri houses, narrow alleyways and a beach with numerous fishing boats.

From there you will continue to the Detwah Lagoon, a marine protected area renowned for its magical landscape and one of Yemen's few Ramsar Wetlands sites. Prepare to be charmed by a white sandy tongue surrounded by the bay's turquoise waters, and enjoy the rest of the day swimming, spotting an array of sea birds in the lagoon, or simply relaxing.

After breakfast, you will hop on a fishing boat and head from Qalansiya's port to Shu'ab. On the way look out for spinner dolphins and cormorants that frequent the area. Once at Shu'ab, you will have ample free time to swim and enjoy the pristine beach, perhaps even exploring the surrounding mangroves. You will return by boat to Qalansiya and Detwah late in the afternoon.

After breakfast, you will return to the capital of Socotra: Hadiboh. There you can visit the Women's Association workshop in Sirhen, shop in the local markets and stroll around the streets. You might end the day – and your trip to Socotra – on a high note, with a performance of local women playing traditional music instruments.

After breakfast, you will head to the airport for your flight back to the UAE.
